Coming into this season, the Golden State Warriors might’ve still feared the Houston Rockets after being taken to seven games. That’s not so true anymore.
The Houston Rockets, unlike the Golden State Warriors, are in shambles. They’re struggling to score, struggling to play for each other, and ultimately, struggling to win. Currently sitting at 4-7, the Rockets have been a ghost of their former self.
This is very unlike the 2017-2018 Rockets team that happened to topple the Dubs for the No. 1 seed in a challenging Western Conference. Winning a league-best 65 games, the Rockets entered the postseason as the top threat to the Warriors dynasty.
In many’s eyes, they did far better than expected. Taking the Dubs to Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals and shooting themselves in the foot with an extravagant amount of missed threes was enough to put the Warriors on edge.
After the Warriors won and easily cleared out the East’s top team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, they thought they’d enter this season with their primary threat being the Rockets yet again. That proved to be incorrect.
The Rockets seem to be free-falling. They’re not even on track to reach the postseason, and while that may change, the start for the Rockets has been very concerning.
That said, let’s take a peek at two lessons the Warriors can learn from the Rockets early-season collapse.
