Paul George on chemistry with the Thunder: ‘This is where I belong’

Paul George has really shown progress in his second year with the Thunder.

In 17 games this season, George is averaging career-highs in points (24.3), rebounds (7.9), assists (4.4) and steals (2.4) for the Thunder, while he is shooting 41.5 percent from the field.

George recorded 25 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals in a win over the Warriors on Wednesday night, but perhaps most impressive for Geroge this season, is he looks to be more comfortable with the team.

He confirmed that notion on Wednesday night.

“I feel like this is where I belong,” George said. “I do feel comfortable, I do feel at ease. I feel like the game has slowed down – I know the pace, I know the tempo, I know this locker room. So, I do feel a lot better everytime I’m out there on the court.

“I think Russ feels [the chemistry]. I think the chemistry me and Steve-O have, he knows I’m comfortable out there. Those guys are looking to set me up. There is no trial and error this year. We know one another. We believe in one another so those guys have my back and that definitely from Day 1 helped me get comfortable but having a year under my belt with these guys is where I belong.”

While George played his first season in Oklahoma City, he would often comment on how he felt comfortable with his new teammates but it is apparent that comfort has reached a new level this season.

He has yet to really shoot at the level that he has in the past as he is only shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3 but those numbers figure to improve as the season progresses.

He could be well on his way to a sixth All-Star selection this season…
