After winning two in a row, the Charlotte Hornets cannot pull off a road victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
This game was not right from the start for the Charlotte Hornets. The team shot poorly from beyond the arc at the beginning of the game, and this led to the team being put in a hole early.
The team finished the game with only six made threes, while they attempted thirty-one from behind the arc. The Hornets also managed to knock down two more shots than the Oklahoma City Thunder; the Hornets made forty-three total shots.
With this loss, the Hornets drop back down to .500 (9-9) on the year. The team will look to get things together as they face the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta on Sunday evening.
The grades for the players will be handed out now for the players who entered the game. Players like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Tony Parker, Malik Monk, Willy Hernangomez, and Bismack Biyombo will not be graded; this being because they did not enter the game.
Player Grades
Tonight,
Dwayne Bacon was the first sub off of the bench for the Charlotte Hornets. In this game, he had eleven points and shot 5/11 from the field. This game wasn’t as huge as his previous one against the Indiana Pacers, but he did get valuable minutes tonight.
Nicolas Batum had an interesting game against the Thunder. He started off slow and began to make a small impact on the game. Despite having a three-pointe reviewed during a timeout and changed to a “no make,” Batum still was able to finish the game with nine points.
Miles Bridges had twenty minutes off the bench and only scored four points while on the court. He provided a lot of energy off the bench and almost finished up some posterizing dunks during the game. He did manage to pull off an alley-oop dunk from fellow rookie Devonte’ Graham.
With the injury to Tony Parker,
Devonte’ Graham saw significant minutes during the game, and also got quite a bit of court time in the closing moments of the game. We saw some flashy passes from the rookie, and even a three-pointer go down for him as well.
With the injury to Willy Hernangomez,
Frank Kaminsky saw a good amount of playing time in the loss. He played great while on the floor and managed to rack up twelve points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. Kaminsky has definetly impressed Coach Borrego in the last two games.
Jeremy Lamb had a great game from the field in the first quarter. Following the first quarter, his scoring production went down and only finished the game with eighteen points. He managed to tie his career high in attempted free throws with eight, while also making five of his fifteen shot attempts.
Kemba Walker started off the game slow but managed to make an impact during the game. He finished the game with twenty-five points and eight assists. The only strange stat on his stat-line for tonight was his four attempted free throws. Despite the lack of free throws, Walker did manage to knock down a clutch three in the final minutes of the game.
In the loss,
Marvin Williams had an up and down performance throughout the game. He finished the game with ten points and six rebounds; during the game, he also reached 10,000 career points all-time. Despite his missed three in the last moments of the game with the team was down by one, he was able to knock down a clutch three before that one.
Cody Zeller had a decent game tonight; scoring his average in points, and also executing a highlight dunk. He finished the game with five assists, and four rebounds; this was halfway to a triple-double! Zeller also set up Walker tonight on some good shots with his great screens that he set.
