With Jerami Grant playing, Thunder are outscoring teams by 9 points

Jerami Grant is having quite an impact on games this season.

In 19 games this season, including 16 starts, Grant is averaging career-highs in points (11.6), rebounds (5.2) and steals (0.8) while he is also recording 1.3 assists and one block per game while shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point range.

He has become an anchor on defense given his versatility and ability to add hustle plays after becoming the everyday starter for head coach Billy Donovan.

While he has always been known to be a solid defender, his offensive game appears to have come around this season after he has become a consistent shooting threat for the Thunder and leads the team in 3-point percentage.

Prior to this season, Grant set a career-high for made 3-pointers in a season with 49 during his rookie year in 2014-15. So far this year, Grant has knocked down 21 3-pointers and appears on track to set a new career high.

As a result of his improvement on offense, the Thunder are scoring 109.3 points per 100 possessions while Grant is on the court compared to just 98.5 points when he is off of the court, per NBA stats.

They are outscoring opponents by nine points when he is on the court.

The Thunder rewarded Grant with a three-year, $27 million contract over the summer and he has certainly performed to expectations, although Grant doesn’t feel any added pressure because of the contract that he signed.

While Donovan wouldn’t commit to Grant as his full-time starter at power forward earlier this season, it is safe to say that Grant has earned that right to be the starter.
