Walker practicing with Spurs' G League team
SAN ANTONIO - Spurs rookie guard Lonnie Walker IV is hitting another benchmark in his recovery from a preseason knee injury.
The Spurs on Sunday announced they have assigned Walker to the Austin Spurs.
Walker, who is rehabbing from a right medial meniscus tear, will practice with the G League team on Sunday through Wednesday.
Last week before a game in New Orleans, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich indicated the club's medical staff could be targeting a December return for Walker.
"As of a couple of days ago, they said it would be a couple of more weeks," Popovich said Nov. 19.
The Spurs selected Walker 18th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft in June.
