The Jimmy Butler-less Minnesota Timberwolves proved to be too much for the Chicago Bulls to handle in a Saturday night matchup.
The Chicago Bulls fell short late in a game serving as the second of two back-to-back contests for both squads.
Heading into the matchup, all eyes motioned north to the Timberwolves, in part, because the game was pegged long ago as a homecoming for former Chicago Bulls reunited in Minnesota.
The game had multiple lead changes in early action, with the biggest lead through three quarters amounting to five at most.
It appeared the matchup could have gone either way. As the final minutes got underway, everything changed. The Bulls fell short in a 111-96 loss to the Timberwolves.
Among those leaving their mark on the game was Karl-Anthony Towns and Derrick Rose. Towns proved to be a statistical nightmare of a matchup for Bulls’ rookie Wendell Carter Jr.
Rose continued to demonstrate why he is a formidable force to be reckoned with among guards in the league.
The Bulls had moments in which they shined, as well.
Zach LaVine made a statement in early game action, displaying his athleticism and ability to get to the rim. Coupled with the likes of Jabari Parker, the Bulls showed promise through the first three quarters only to fall short late.
What went wrong?
