Damian Lillard scored 23 points on Friday evening in a blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors. Though the number was significant to the outcome of the game, it had plenty of meaning to Trail Blazers fans. Lillard’s point total for his career now stands at 11341. That number pushed him to third on the all-time Blazers scoring list, leapfrogging fellow point guard Terry Porter. The Portland legend took to Twitter to congratulate his younger counterpart.
Lillard responded just as graciously:
Portland’s All-Time scoring list now looks like this:
- Clyde Drexler —18040
LaMarcus Aldridge —12562
Damian Lillard —11341- Terry Porter —11330
- Cliff Robinson —10405
If the season proceeds normally, Lillard should pass Aldridge this spring. We’ll see if a similar congratulatory note is offered then.
For those counting, it’ll take Lillard roughly 3.5 more seasons at his current scoring rate to reach Drexler and become the leading scorer in Trail Blazers history.
