The Dallas Mavericks had a disappointing month considering how well they played in a lot of instances. Still, we can look at the positives. Which players deserve the various awards such as MVP, Most Improved, Sixth Man and others?
Despite a not-so-stellar record as of yet, the Dallas Mavericks have had some bright spots amongst the pain. For starters, their record does not fully reflect what the team has shown that it can do. During stretches, the Mavs have been the better team on the floor in every single game. But that can be said about every team pretty much.
During other stretches, however, the Mavs have looked like one of the worst teams in the league. That is something that not every team can say, unfortunately. The Mavs have shown both ends of the spectrum, but they have yet to show that they can consistently play in the middle.
That middle ground is undoubtedly going to be the goal for the team going forward. They don’t need to be the best team in the league, but they certainly can’t look like the worst, not with the talent that this roster holds. Individual performances aside, the Mavs need to straighten some things out.
This post is more about the players who have shown flashes than it is about the team. Some of the guys for the Mavs have been really impressive in their individual roles. The team is still looking more like a group of players than one cohesive unit, but the individual performances have still been noteworthy.
Here are my picks so far for the Mavs Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, Sixth Man of the Month and Defensive Player of the Month. These are just my personal opinion and some may be semi-debatable but I feel that most of them are pretty obvious so far.
