The Philadelphia 76ers are having a great record at home for the second season in a row. Why are they so much better in South Philadelphia than anywhere else?
The Philadelphia 76ers might have had some struggles on the court this season — but that court is definitely not the one at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Sixers have been a complete Jekyll-and-Hyde team so far. Until they beat Indiana. They had lost every single road game (only one of which was even competitive) while winning every home game.
This is a continuation of the Sixers’ great success at home last year.
The Sixers actually had a better record at home (30-11) in 2017-18 than the eventual NBA champion Golden State Warriors (29-12), as well as the team that knocked them out of the playoffs, the Boston Celtics (27-14).
The playoffs are when home cooking is crucial and the Sixers did well there last postseason as well. In playoff series with the Miami Heat and Celtics, the Sixers went a combined 4-1 at home.
It’s only defeat was the ‘Confetti Game’. In Game 3 against Boston the Sixers lost in overtime after it appeared Marco Bellinelli had hit a 3-pointer (later ruled a ‘two) to win the game in regulation as confetti followed in premature celebration.
