After a tumultuous 2017/18, the Grizzlies head into this season with a little more hope. Take a look at their full roster and NBA Live 19 player ratings, as well as every play you can run with this team, below.
Mike Conley, PG, 87
Age: 30
Position: PG
Height: 6’1’’
Playstyle: Backcourt Defender
Best stats: 93 On Ball Defense, 92 Stamina, 88 Dribbling
Conley spent much of last season on the sideline, which was a large reason the Grizzlies were so poor throughout the season. When he was on the court – which was only for 12 games – he managed 17.1 points and 4.1 assists while shooting uncharacteristically poorly. With a clean bill of health heading into 2018/19, expect him to return to his best this season and drastically improve the Grizzlies win/loss record.
Wayne Selden, SG, 75
Age: 24
Position: SG
Height: 6’5’’
Playstyle: Slasher
Best stats: 85 Stamina, 83 Speed, 80 Dunk
After being drafted in 2016, Selden has spent the last couple of years attempting to establish himself as an NBA level player, and last season he took some strides towards doing so. Though he appeared in only 35 games and played just 19.7 minutes in those appearances, he showed an ability to knock down the long ball, hitting over 40% of 3-point attempts on the way to 9.3 points per game.
Kyle Anderson, SF, 77
Age: 24
Position: SF
Height: 6’9’’
Playstyle: Wing Scorer
Best stats: 85 Mid-Range Shot, 84 Stamina, 80 On Ball Defense
Drafted at pick 30 by the Spurs in 2014, Anderson gradually improved his output each season to the point where he became a valuable player for them last season, averaging 7.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals. In the off-season, he signed a four-year deal with the Grizzlies, where he will fit in nicely as a two-way player capable of locking down on defense.
Jaren Jackson Jr., PF, 81
Age: 18
Position: PF
Height: 6’11’’
Playstyle: Post Anchor
Best stats: 85 Shot Block, 85 Stamina, 83 Mid-Range Shot
Jackson Jr was one of the most impressive rookies, if not the most, at this year’s NBA Summer League. His impressive athletic traits coupled with an ability to knock down outside shots make him a valuable prospect in the modern day NBA, and he is expected to make an immediate impact for the Grizzlies.
Marc Gasol, C, 88
Age: 33
Position: C
Height: 7’1’’
Playstyle: Post Anchor
Best stats: 96 Post Defense, 95 Post Moves, 92 Strength
Gasol had a frustrating 2017/18 season, leading a Memphis side which clearly had no desire to win games for much of the season. His numbers, however, were still reflective of a player who, despite being well into his 30s, is one of the most capable all-rounders in the game. He averaged 17.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.4 blocks per night, and though he might not be the defender he once was, he is still a high quality player at both ends of the floor.
