Meet David Cobb, The Commercial Appeal's new Grizzlies beat writer.
A Memphian, Cobb was raised in Bartlett and followed the Grizzlies and read The Commercial Appeal. He credits The CA with sparking his interest in journalism.
"We are excited to have David join our talented Commercial Appeal sports staff," said Dave Ammenheuser, the USA TODAY Network – Tennessee sports director. "A strong writer and reporter, we can't wait for the city to read his reports regularly on all of our digital and print platforms."
That interest led him to the University of Tennessee's School of Journalism and Electronic Media. Cobb graduated from UT in 2015 after covering the Vols' football program for the Knoxville News Sentinel.
After a stint with MLB.com covering the St. Louis Cardinals, he joined the Chattanooga Times Free Press in 2015 and he spent the past two years as the Tennessee beat writer stationed in Knoxville.
During his time there, he remained a regular radio guest on Sports 56 WHBQ in Memphis and kept up with the Memphis sports scene through The Commercial Appeal's iPad and iPhone apps.
Cobb welcomes reader interaction on Twitter @DavidWCobb.
He will cover his first game on Wednesday when the Grizzlies host the Denver Nuggets.
