Despite the rough start to the season, Chicago Bulls fans shouldn’t get carried away that the organization has a bright future.
It’s hard to be patient when the Chicago Bulls continue to struggle, but I truly believe that it’s going to be worth it in the end.
I’m a die hard Bulls fan.
The Bulls are my team.
I hate when my team loses so many games.
Last season the Bulls lost 55 games, and had the third worst record in the Eastern Conference.
Late last season, it seemed like the Bulls were purposely trying to lose games so they can get a higher pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Bulls had the seventh and the 22nd overall pick in the 2018 draft. They picked Wendell Carter Jr. with the seventh pick, and Chandler Hutchison with the 22nd pick.
In free agency, the Bulls let Zach LaVine sign with the Sacramento Kings, but quickly matched the offer. Bulls then signed Chicago’s own Jabari Parker to a two-year deal, with the second year being a team option.
At the 2018 media day, John Paxson, Gar Forman, and Fred Hoiberg talked about how excited they were for this upcoming season. All three wanted this Bulls team to be more competitive.
Things haven’t gone as planned, as injuries have really hurt the Bulls.
First it was Denzel Valentine that injured his ankle during training camp. The Bulls initially ruled him out for one to two weeks, but that hasn’t been the case.
It’s been exactly six weeks since the injury, and Valentine still hasn’t played a game for the Bulls this season.
On November 7th, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times tweeted that John Paxson indicated that Denzel will be out indefinitely after his left ankle didn’t respond well when the team increased his workload. This isn’t the first time that Valentine has missed games due to an ankle injury.
The next Bulls player that got injured was Lauri Markkanen. He suffered a right elbow injury during training camp.
An MRI showed that Lauri had a high grade lateral elbow sprain that will keep him out six to eight weeks.
It’s already been six weeks, and Markkanen is getting closer to returning. I expect him to be back by later November.
The injuries didn’t stop there for the Bulls. Next player that got injured was Kris Dunn. In the third game of the season, Dunn suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee.
The injury was estimated to keep him out for four to six weeks. It’s been about two and half weeks since Dunn’s injury.
You thought the injuries would stop there, well you’re wrong. Bobby Portis was the next Bulls player that got injured.
Portis underwent an MRI on his right knee after injuring it against the Pelicans on October 25th. An MRI revealed a sprained MCL on his right knee. It’s the same injury that Dunn suffered, but it’s just on a different knee.
