Chicago Bulls forward Lauri Markkanen is refusing to shut up and dribble, as his Twitter account shows.
In a series of tweets, Chicago Bulls second year Lauri Markkanen makes a statement by putting his support behind Neste, a global producer of renewable diesel, and its efforts to foster solutions for climate change.
Take a listen:
It appears Markkanen wasn’t satisfied, by any means, with letting written word compiled in a Tweet communicate his message.
Another Tweet states, “This basketball has been modeled after this year’s world heat map. The world is choking, but we shouldn’t. Now is the right time to start making responsible choices. Areyouwithme? #DontChoke”.
Take a look:
This series of posts provides follow up to last week’s Tweets in which Markkanen took time to throw shade at President Donald Trump over his comments as it regards the deadly California wildfires.
Experts have said it is more accurate to associate the cause of the wildfires to climate change.
Trump has proven to be a climate change denier during his time in office to this point.
It is evident Markkanen supports the effort to combat climate change. So, do you think Lauri Markkanen wants to start a Twitter war with Trump?
If not for Markkanen’s latest posts, the answer remains largely unclear.
Trump has not taken time to publicly respond to Markkanen’s Tweets to this point.
While it was uncertain last week if Markkanen was trying to start a Twitter war with the commander and chief, it becomes more apparent what the Chicago Bulls star is trying to accomplish in his latest Tweets.
Markkanen is likely making the case that athletes have the power to influence the public on and off the court in more ways than one.
