Klay Thompson says Warriors vs. Raptors may be NBA Finals preview

With Stephen Curry nursing a groin injury, the Warriors have struggled a bit. The team recently endured the first four-game losing streak of the Steve Kerr era, but after their win over the Orlando Magic on Monday night, Klay Thompson’s confidence obviously hadn’t waned.

The Dubs will be off on Tuesday and Wednesday before seeing the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night. The Raptors enter play on November 27 with a 17-4 record and with the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Boston Celtics, on the other hand, are just 11-10 and still trying to revert to last season’s form.

At this point, many are wondering if the Celtics even have what it takes to win the Eastern Conference, and Thompson himself may be among them.

“It’s going to be a great test for us,” Thompson said of the Warriors’ upcoming matchup with the Raptors.

“And who knows? It might be a preview of June.”

After saying that the Raptors have “something really special up there,” Klay may have simply been showing some respect to his opponents, but it’s interesting to note that the team that many expect to win the Western Conference see the Raptors as a team they may encounter in the NBA Finals.

What’s more interesting about the entire thing, if you ask us, is the fact that the Warriors don’t seem phased in the least with their struggles and the uncertainty surrounding Kevin Durant’s future.

Draymond Green himself matter-of-factly stated that the Warriors are going to win the championship in June, and now Thompson is following suit, though he didn’t go that far.

Perhaps the Celtics shouldn’t feel “disrespected” by Thompson’s declaration. At this point, the Raptors are clearly the better team—at least right now.

But you best believe that if Brad Stevens gets wind of Thompson’s comment, it’ll quickly become bulletin board material in Boston, and rightfully so.
