Former BYU standout Jimmer Fredette is killing it in China, but he wants another shot at the NBA.
Fredette is averaging 38 points per game for the Shanghai Sharks this season, and he believes he can still make his mark on the game's biggest stage.
"I want to have another opportunity in the NBA because there is some unfinished business for me there. After this season is over, I want another NBA chance. This time, I’ll succeed," Fredette said, (via Hoops Hype). "I feel really good about how I am playing. I know that if I get a chance, I will take advantage of it and be successful and help a team win."
Fredette averaged 28.9 points in his senior season at BYU, which led the NCAA in scoring. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard was interesting enough to be drafted by the Bucks with the 10th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft but was traded to the Kings shortly after.
Being a volume shooter is his trade, but he bounced around to the Bulls, Pelicans and Knicks before making his exit from the NBA. He was never able to carve out a distinct role, and his most notable season was his rookie year, when he averaged 7.6 points in 18.6 minutes for Sacramento.
Shooters shoot, and Fredette, 29, shot his way to Chinese Basketball Association MVP honors in 2017. He recently scored 75 points in a game, which beat his previous career high of 73. He still has plenty of basketball ahead of him and various NBA teams could make use of the valuable spark he can provide offensively.
All in all, Fredette wants to bring his positive attitude and a winning mentality to an NBA franchise.
