Houston has recalled reserve center Zhou Qi from its G-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Rockets announced on Friday. Qi missed the Vipers’ last game with a left ankle sprain.
Through seven contests with the Vipers this season, Qi has averaged 11.9 points and 9.4 rebounds, playing 27.9 minutes per game. Qi competed in 24 G-League games last season, posting similar averages of 11.0 points and 6.3 rebounds.
The Rockets face the Pistons in Detroit tonight. Neither Qi’s health nor availability have yet been subject of official statement. Primary reserve center Nene Hilario (calf), who has been unable to play this season, should be ready to return in a matter of days.
