Greg Papa says the Golden State Warriors should sign Kawhi Leonard if Kevin Durant departs

Greg Papa is really looking forward to the upcoming matchup between Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard, as he detailed on “Joe, Lo & Dibs” on Tuesday morning.

It’s a spectacular scorer vs. a spectacular defender. Oh, and there’s the looming game of summer musical chairs to consider.

“In another way, with this whole free agency looming, if Durant ever does leave, you need someone to guard Durant, and Kawhi Leonard is also a free agent,” Papa said on 95.7 The Game.

Leonard, whose Raptors meet the Warriors on Thursday in Toronto, is playing in the final season of his five-year, $94.3 million deal. Durant can opt out on his one-and-one this July.

“He’s a different guy, maybe he’ll stay in Toronto,” Papa continued. “I don’t know what his deal is, but he would be the first choice I would have to sign. If Durant leaves and you’re left with that salary there and you could do it financially, I’d go get Kawhi Leonard.”

“So, I’d like to watch Kawhi Leonard guard Kevin Durant on Thursday. This is a matchup that I’m going to be looking forward to.”
