Blake Griffin says fans don’t expect victory every night, just an honest effort.
But Detroit Pistons fans do expect wins against 4-14 teams.
And the Pistons obliged in Sunday's matinee at Little Caesars Arena.
The Pistons slowly pulled away in the second half on the way to a 118-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns.
The arena lacked the same energy as Friday night’s rousing overtime victory over the Houston Rockets.
But Blake Griffin awakened the slumbering crowd by scoring 11 of his 16 points in the closing minutes; the Pistons (10-7) have won six of their past eight games.
He added 11 assists, exploiting the Suns’ aggressive double-teams of the Pistons’ leading scorer.
Andre Drummond scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, although he was 1-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Reggie Jackson led the Pistons with 19 points.

The Pistons were 16-for-41 from 3-point range and tied a season-high with 30 assists.
Booker burns up
Devin Booker led the Suns (4-15) with 37 points — although Stanley Johnson slowed the Grand Rapids native some in the fourth quarter when the Pistons took control.
Turnovers were an issue in the first half.
The Pistons committed 11 turnovers, which contributed to 21 points for the Suns.
Griffin and Drummond were the main culprits with four turnovers each.
Booker was more of a problem.
He scored 15 points in the first quarter on his way to 21 points in the first half.
Bench boost
The Pistons received good bench production with 28 points in the first — led by 12 from Galloway.
The Pistons took a 10-point lead late in the first half, but three 3-pointers from former Wolverine Jamal Crawford narrowed the deficit to 62-60 going into halftime.
Suns forward T.J. Warren was ejected after two quick technical fouls with 4:35 left in the first half.
