Anthony Davis of New Orleans Pelicans out against Wizards

WASHINGTON -- New Orleans center Anthony Davis missed the Pelicans' 124-114 loss to the Washington Wizards on Saturday night with a strained right hip.

Davis suffered the injury in the third quarter of Friday night's road loss to the New York Knicks, though he did return for the final three minutes of the fourth quarter. Still, he was held out of the back end of the Pelicans' fourth back-to-back game set this season.

It's unclear if he'll be available for New Orleans' next game on Monday.

"We don't know," coach Alvin Gentry said after Saturday's game. "Obviously, he'll work out tomorrow and have some rehab tomorrow."

A five-time All-Star, Davis also missed a stretch of three out of four games earlier this season with an elbow sprain.

He is averaging 27.0 points and 12.6 rebounds through 16 games of his seventh NBA season.
