Following recent reports of disunity, the time is now for the Miami Heat to put forward a trade offer to acquire All-Star John Wall.
While they may have pulled off possibly their best win of the season, the Washington Wizards appear increasingly likely to end their nine-year partnership with All-Star point guard John Wall.
The Wizards’ come-from-behind 125-118 win over the Los Angeles Clippers came just a day after news broke revealing the significant disenchantment inside the locker room.
Despite the win, Wizards forward Markieff Morris had a different outlook for the team moving forward:
At the center of the storm has been Wall, whose future in the nation’s capital has been up in the air to commence the season, primarily due to his up-and-down form, his indifferent relationship with some of his teammates, and the enormous salary he’s owed in the coming years.
In this case, it was head coach Scott Brooks with whom Wall had a heated argument, as ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reported:
Despite their level of talent, the Wizards are now 6-11, and are clearly one of the most underperforming teams in the league. However at age 28, and with his four-year, $169 million contract extension not commencing until next season, it’s only natural that Wall is going to be mentioned in trade rumors, despite the existence of a 15 percent trade kicker in his contract.
Just recently, Wojnarowksi also reported that both Wall and teammate Bradley Beal have been made available for talks:
With an equally disastrous 6-11 start to the season, this is where the Miami Heat come into the equation. Despite possessing several undesirable contracts, there’s every chance the Heat and the Wizards could engage in serious discussions, particularly if the Wizards are desperately keen to clean house and build in another direction. As Jalen Rose recently stated on Get Up! on ESPN:
“Watch the Miami Heat in this scenario. If they’re able to secure one of these players via trade because they have a lot of unfavorable contracts on their roster, watch how these players look like total new people. John Wall will not be coaching out Erik Spoelstra. This will never take place.”
Given the predicament of both franchises, the timing may be right for the respective front offices of each team to pick up the phone and work out a deal that benefits each side of the equation.
With this in mind, here’s an expanded three-team deal that would ultimately land John Wall in Miami.
