Having a good pool gene can really help you get to the NBA, but obviously, it takes way more than just good genes and a good physique to make it in the most competitive league in all major sports.
Moreover, having one son make it to the league is complicated, so imagine how difficult it is to have a couple of sons in the Association. Obviously, more often than not, one of those brothers winds up being a much better player than the other.
Even so, and even despite most of those guys have had quite different careers, we’re going to let you know about some NBA players you didn’t know had brothers.
Mark Jackson – Troy ‘Escalade’ Jackson
Mark Jackson is an ex-NBA player that made it to one All-Star and led the league in dimes once, being one of the craftiest playmakers in the league during his prime before becoming a head coach and TV analyst.
Moreover, Mark’s brother Troy was one of the members of And 1’s Hoops mixtape, a huge guy that has a great footwork and has a great feel for making crafty crosses. He was a streetball legend despite being clearly overweight (around 500 pounds, 227 kg), and he was also Jackson’s younger brother.
He died in his sleep of hypertensive heart disease on February 20, 2011.
CJ McCollum – Errick McCollum
CJ McCollum is known for his great growth spurt that took him to the NBA, being a tweener guard that could put defenders on skates and score from all three levels up to the point where he’s now one of the best shooting guards in the league..
But, most of you may not know about Errick, CJ’s older brother that went undrafted in 2010. He’s played in Europe and China at both guard spots, and even won 1 EuroCup with 1 EuroCup MVP, and even scored 82 points once, so you know he can ball like his younger brother.
JR Smith – Chris Smith
JR Smith is one of the NBA’s most controversial players. He’s a guy that can get hot in the blink of an eye and score 4 straight contested threes, or that can just have a huge mental breakdown and be one of the most toxic players you’ll find. Even so, he’s an NBA Champion.
On the other hand, JR’s younger brother Chris went undrafted in 2012, signing a deal with the Knicks to play for their Summer League squad, but eventually being waived. Now, he’s a free agent after failed tenures in the G-League and Europe.
DeMarcus Cousins – Jaleel Cousins
DeMarcus Cousins is one of the best big men in the league, a guy that can pull up from all three levels, run the break, block shots and do a little bit of everything, even though he hasn’t been able to make his playoff debut.
On the other hand, Jaleel Cousins went undrafted in 2016, so he had to join the Mavericks’ Summer League squad but was eventually waived by the team. Now, the big man is still trying to find his way into the league, currently playing for the Reno Bighorns at the G-League.

Carlos Boozer – Charles Boozer
Carlos Boozer was once considered to be a dominant big man and a walking double-double, especially during his Utah Jazz tenure. Being extremely prolific in the post and even a capable defender when locked in, he found quite a success in the league despite never winning a Championship.
Charles Boozer, on the other hand, was Carlos’ younger brother, and he played college hoops at Iowa State. He went undrafted in the 2011 NBA Draft. He played in the Summer League and the G-League but was never able to make it to the NBA.
