After a loss to the Indiana Pacers, the Atlanta Hawks are now 3-13 in the 2018-19 season. Now’s as good a time as any to explore some potential trades for the Hawks.
The Atlanta Hawks added multiple new players this offseason via the draft, free agency and trades, with the team looking far different – and far more interesting – than they did last season.
While the main draws are the first round draft picks the Atlanta Hawks selected in June (Trae Young, Kevin Huerter and Omari Spellman), the team also picked up a few important veterans via free agency and trades.
The two most notable big names the Hawks acquired were 21-year veteran and NBA legend Vince Carter and point guard Jeremy Lin.
More from Soaring Down South
Lin was widely expected to be the team’s starting point guard on opening day – allowing rookie Trae Young to improve slowly and steadily off the bench. Instead, it became clear that Lin was not fully recovered from a brutal torn patellar tendon he suffered last year with the Nets, so Young was immediately shunted into the starting lineup from day one.
While that’s probably the most effective way to see if Young can fully live up to his potential, it did put Lin in an odd situation as someone Hawks GM Travis Schlenk clearly targeted in the offseason.
However, after a slow start, Lin is back to playing his typical, consistent basketball – serving as a steadying influence for this young Hawks team and producing some of his best games of the season in recent weeks.
With that improved performance in recent weeks, it has us pragmatically thinking about some potential trade destinations for Lin this season. Read on to delve into three potential trades the Hawks could make for veteran Jeremy Lin.
