If the Philadelphia 76ers trade Markelle Fultz, which teams make sense?
A recent report from The Athletic gave new details on the demoralizing Markelle Fultz situation. The former No. 1 pick will visit a shoulder specialist in New York on Monday, with an apparent wrist injury also getting reviewed.
While some are blaming Fultz for the current debacle, it’s worth noting the severity of his injury. If Fultz is still dealing with discomfort — something Drew Hanlen alluded to a few weeks ago — it’s difficult to expect positive results on the court. He needs to get the proper diagnosis.
The report also notes that Fultz and his camp might prefer a fresh start with another team. It’s difficult to imagine Fultz getting the same support from another organization/fan base, but the Sixers would be wise to open up trade discussions.
Seemingly by the day, Fultz’s trade value is decreasing. He has potentially chronic shoulder issues and a serious mental block when it comes to spot-up shooting and free throws. His ceiling, while still high, seems less and less attainable.
If the Philadelphia 76ers search the market, here are some potential options.
