Should the Golden State Warriors trade for JR Smith?
The Golden State Warriors are in an interesting position, both in the present and distant future. Trading for JR Smith could be a smart move given their current salary and team structure.
If you haven’t been keeping up with the Cavaliers, they’re also in mayhem. Starting off the season as a potential playoff team, the Cavs quickly went downhill and are currently a league-worst 2-13. And, JR Smith, who will be out of the league by the time the Cavs return to prominence, wants out.
They’re at the point where Smith won’t be with the team, and he plans to not play another game in Cleveland.
I know what most of you will be thinking. JR Smith has been washed up for years. If he couldn’t even be useful on a LeBron James-led championship-caliber team, why would the Warriors even consider trading for him?
There are two glaring reasons why the Dubs should trade for him. However, it seems quite unlikely for the Warriors, of all teams, to trade for the veteran sharpshooter.
