Wednesday NBA preview: Detroit Pistons at Toronto Raptors

Detroit: Reggie Bullock, Andre Drummond, Blake Griffin, Reggie Jackson, Glenn Robinson III

Toronto: Danny Green, Jonas Valanciunas, Kawhi Leonard, Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam

KEY PLAYERS

Drummond/Valanciunas

Drummond has averaged 23.5 points, 19 rebounds and two blocks in his last four games, while shooting 60.6 per cent from the field and dominating in the deep paint — an area where the Raptors struggled against the Pelicans on Monday … Valanciunas will be looking to bounce back from a season-low two points against the Pelicans — 0-for-3 from the field in 15 minutes — and the Raptors centre says he “definitely” looks forward to matchups such as this one against Drummond: “It’s going to be a physical matchup. He’s a physical guy. He’s always in the paint. Good big guy … It’s always fun to go against him.”

NEED TO KNOW

Shooting is a problem for the Pistons. They sat 28th in the league in field-goal percentage at 42.4, and three-point percentage at 31.4, heading into Tuesday … Expect just about every play by Dwane Casey’s Pistons to run through Griffin, the five-time all-star. He leads the league in touches per game with 92.5 … Norm Powell, who suffered a dislocated left shoulder in Utah on Nov. 5, was shooting at the Raptors training centre on Tuesday. He is expected to be out four to six weeks … Raptor C.J. Miles left Monday’s game with a right adductor strain and won’t face the Pistons … Lorenzo Brown will be the 10th man in the Raptors rotation.
