Wassup in Westchester: W-Knicks win back-to-back home games

During any part of a team’s regular season, there’s going to be several challenges along the way. It really doesn’t matter which level they’re on, because everyone has to face them. The Westchester Knicks (8-3) have already dealt with several challenges in pertains to extensive travel and player absences, and they faced another one with the Wisconsin Herd being their opponent in back-to-back home games. Yet, it didn’t matter as the Knicks came out and dismantled the Herd on Friday and Saturday night.

Despite missing their leading scorer John Jenkins, who is away playing for Team USA Men’s World Cup Qualifying team, the Knicks didn’t miss a beat on offense. Not only did they average 117 points, but the Knicks defeated the Herd by margins of 56 and 13 points on Friday and Saturday night. How? Because there was a huge increase in individual scoring. The Knicks witnessed a total of 12 players reach double digit points and they ranged from Luke Kornet to Billy Garrett and Kadeem Allen and even Stephen Zimmerman. It didn’t matter what the Herd wanted to do on defense. The Knicks were going to get score no matter what.

And although, the Herd did have a better performance on Saturday, it wasn’t enough to stay within reach, at least consistently. But credit has to be given to Brandon McCoy (19 Points & 14 Rebounds) and James Young (28 points & eight rebounds), who redeemed themselves and applied a lot of pressure on the Knicks’ defense.

Up next for the Knicks is another home game, this time on Tuesday night as they’ll face the Windy City Bulls.
