Happy Thanksgiving, Cleveland Cavaliers fans! Though the 2018-19 NBA season is not providing many moments of joy, this fan base still has some things to be thankful for.
Cleveland holds a 2-14 record on the year, which is the worst mark in the league. They’ve been plagued with injuries, a coaching change after just six games into the regular season, reported turmoil amongst the veterans and the front office, and a whole lot more to begin this year. Yet, they have had some bright spots that have made their way to the forefront as of late.
Take last night, for example. While the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James held on for a 109-105 victory in James’ well-publicized return to his hometown, the Wine and Gold stood tough in their efforts and almost snatched the win away from Tinseltown’s finest.
Young wing Cedi Osman, still adjusting to his return from his reported back spasms’ ailments, scored a team-high 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting and gave Cleveland fans some excitement down the stretch for the near future. He has done pretty well in crunch time opportunities this season, and that was the case again versus the Lakers, and Osman’s shot-making was highlighted by a five-for-seven mark from three-point range.
In reality, the whole team really showed up and gave it a good effort, though, which was encouraging to see in a game that was obviously about LeBron’s homecoming.
With so many young players on this roster, there’s a lot to be excited about. Heck, some of the grizzled veteran bunch are worthy of thankfulness. In the following pages, we’ll take a gander at the three Cavaliers this author believes every Clevelander should be thankful for this holiday season.
