Rockets' Gerald Green expects to play Saturday vs. Kings

Easy to overlook at the end of Thursday’s blowout win over the Warriors, forward Gerald Green tested out his hurt ankle for the final 3 minutes, 43 seconds. He made the most of the stretch, putting up four shots, but making only one.

He suggested the ankle is not back to 100 percent strength, but he and coach Mike D’Antoni expect he will be ready to play Saturday against the Kings at Toyota Center.

“It’s getting better,” he said. “I just want to play,” he said. “It’s hard to sit out. I don’t really get hurt that much. I’ve been blessed. The training staff’s doing a good job of making sure I'm back on track.”

Green missed two games before his brief appearance in the blowout. The Rockets have won three straight, and Green to watch the team restore its defense and its mojo without him.

“We always knew that this would somehow happen,” he said. “We’ve been telling each other this was gonna happen. Let’s just keep it rolling.”
