The Denver Nuggets got their third straight win by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder.
With this in mind, which one of the Denver Nuggets player stood out in this win? None other than Jamal Murray.
Murray was the high point man of the night as he came away with 22 points on 39.1% shooting from the field. Not only that, he showcased his play making ability as he recorded eight assists along with eight key rebounds.
He also stretched the Thunder defense making two out of six three point shots.
Murray also had a player differential of +4 which was tied for the fifth best on the team in this particular category. There was still room for improvement though.
Jamal still committed three turnovers and only got to the free throw stripe one time (he hit both of his free throws.) As a result, he needs to be much more aggressive in terms of attacking the paint and drawing more fouls.
He has the athleticism to do it along with the free throw numbers (shooting 87.7% from the charity stripe this year and a career 89.5% shooter from this area.)
He needs to be smart about it however. The three turnovers almost let the Thunder back into the game after the Nuggets were up by double digits during halftime. Denver had 14 turnovers as a team compared to the Thunder’s 10.
All in all, Jamal Murray still was the clear cut player of the game for the Nuggets and he had a big role in the win over a division rival who was tied for the best record in the Western Conference before this game.
Hopefully, this momentum will translate into some more key performances going forward.
If the Nuggets continue to get performances like this out of him, then they will be in good shape while Gary Harris heals from his ankle injury.
