Paul George defends Westbrook: He ‘has the ability to take over’ games

Russell Westbrook surely didn’t have his best shooting performance on Saturday night, but his teammates still have his back.

Westbrook recorded his second triple-double of the season in a loss to the Nuggets with 16 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds, but he shot just 6-of-23 from the field and 1-of-12 from three-point range.

He missed all six of his shot attempts in the fourth quarter, including five from 3, but Paul George defended the team’s former MVP following the loss.

“Russ has the ability to take over a game down the stretch,” George said. “Tonight, those didn’t fall but we’ve seen Russ get hot behind the three-point line. He has a real good way of just turning it on when we need him to.”

While Westbrook has surely been in a shooting slump this season, he still has the support of his teammates. They know Westbrook is the leader of the team and it will only be a matter of time before he bounces back.

He has certainly shown the ability to do so in the past.
